물리적인 모형의 제작보다는 주효한 이미지들로 구성된 작업들을 통해, 각 내용을 보다 다양하게 전달하려 했다. 이 안에서, 개인이 집중한 사회문제의 현안은 ‘쓰레기’와 ‘매립지’에 관한 문제이다.

매립지는 과거 쓰레기를 처리하기 위한 수단 중 하나로 물리적 토지를 점유하고, 그 땅을 사용할 수 없는 땅으로 만들어버리곤 했다. 이러한 방식은 오늘날 까지도 이용되고 있는 방식이며, 기존의 매립지의 할당량이 채워질 경우, 새로운 대상지를 찾아 또 다시 그곳에 쓰레기를 매립하는 방식으로 지속되고 있다.

하지만, 지속적인 물리적 토지의 점유만이 쓰레기를 매립하는 것의 해법이 되면 안된다. 쓰레기는 계속 처리하되, 이미 잠식된 대지를 다시금 살릴 수 있는 방식이 필요하다. 그리고, 그렇게 비워낸 공간에 새로운 활력을 불어넣어줄 수 있는 시설이 이제는 필요하다. 매립지에서 벗어날 수 있는 방식으로, 그렇게 하여 잠식되고 이용될 수 없는 매립 대지 자체를 살리는 방식으로, 그리고 지구와 환경을 위한 순환의 방식의 하나로써 이 프로젝트를 제안한다.

난지 매립지는 현재 서울 최외곽에 위치한 매립지로, 1977년 매립지로 지정된 이후, 무분별한 쓰레기 매립이 이어졌다. 그러다, 1988년 올림픽과 2002년 월드컵 기간동안 국가 정비 사업의 일환으로 이를 빠르게 매립하고 공원화 하는 과정으로 매립지를 변화시키고 활용하기 위한 노력을 국가적으로 진행하면서, 1차적인 순환 자원인 메탄 가스 자원을 에너지 자원으로 추출해서 이용하는 것을 대안으로  이 사업이 추진됐다.

하지만 이 사업이 갖는 가장 큰 문제점은 매립지에서 나오는 메탄 가스는 굉장히 일시적인 자원에 불과하다는 것이었다. 매장되어있는 메탄 가스라는 자원은 향 후 20년 이내에 그 양이 종식되는데. 그 이후 난지 쓰레기 매립지가 할 수 있는 일은 쓰레기가 완전히 자연 분해 되기만을 기다려야 하는 것으로, 최소 10,000년의 기간이 지난 이후에나 이 부지를 다시금 활용할 수 있게 되는 것이다.

제안하는 프로젝트는 10,000년 이후가 아닌, 새로운 시설과 함께 재탄생 된 대지를 돌려주는 것을 큰 목적성으로 삼고 있다. 또한, 쓰레기 매립 자원을 재활용하여 만든 건자재가 한강을 통해서 유통되고, 경인 아라뱃길을 통해 전국으로 퍼지는 영향력을 도모하며, 자원의 재활용이라는 부분에 있어서도 집중했다. 결과적으로, 매립자원을 다 활용하고 비워낸 대지 안에서, 다시 도시가 형성되고, 사람들이 직접적으로 활용할 수 있는 살아있는 대지로 변모시킨다는 것에 큰 의의가 있는 것이다. 또한, 재활용 센터라는 메가스트럭쳐는, 도시의 일부분이 되어, 부분 철거 후, 주민들이 활용할 수 있는 운동 센터등의 공간으로 변모함에 따라, 그 지역이 매립지였다는 인식을 지속적으로 심어주면서, 그 상징성을 보여주는 공간으로 자리잡을 것이다.

한편, 프로젝트를 진행하며 가장 주목했었던 부분은 시스템의 구축이다. 단순히, 상상에서 머무는 것이 아니라, 실질적으로 구축되고 사용될 수 있도록 고민을 하는 것이 이번 프로젝트의 가장 큰 목표였다고 생각하고 또한 이것이 실제로 하나의 건축물을 통해 해결될 수 있는 통합된 재활용 시설을 만드는 데에 주안점을 두었다. 그렇게 하여, 결과적으로 이 건물이 난지도 매립지 뿐 만 아니라, 인천에 위치한 수도권 쓰레기 제 1 매립지, 제 2매립지 등등 전국구의 매립지에 적용되어, 쓰레기 매립지를 그대로 두는 것이 아니라, 새롭게 자원화하고 변화시킬 수 있는 여지를 주는 하나의 프로토타입이자 선례로 작동하길 바란다.

제안하는 방식을 시작으로, 매립지를 지속적으로 채우는 것이 아니라, 비워내는 것에 대해서 생각해낸다면, 이는 도시 환경적으로, 그리고 물리적인 토지와 더불어 자원적으로도 환원될 수 있는 부분들이 많아질 것이 분명할 것이다. 이러한 원대한 목표와 이상을 마무리로, 어반 트랜지스터 프로젝트를 마무리한다.

With the progress of the digital studio due to the corona virus, it was a graduation project that focused on the current issues of each social and urban problem and designed it from various angles. In addition, I tried to convey each content more diversely through works composed of effective images rather than the production of physical models. In this context, the social issues that individuals have focused on are the issues of 'garbage' and 'landfill'.

Landfills used to occupy physical land as one of the means of disposing of waste in the past and render the land unusable. This method is still in use today, and when the quota of the existing landfill site is met, it continues as a method of finding a new site and refilling the waste there.

However, continuous physical land occupancy should not be the only solution to landfilling. We need a way to revive the already encroached land while continuing to dispose of the garbage. And, facilities that can breathe new vitality into the empty space are now needed. We propose this project as a way of getting out of landfill, and as a way of reviving the landfill site itself that cannot be eroded and used in that way, and as a way of recycling for the planet and the environment.

The Nanji landfill site is currently located in the outermost part of Seoul, and since it was designated as a landfill site in 1977, reckless landfilling has continued. Then, during the 1988 Olympics and the 2002 World Cup, as part of the national maintenance project, the nation made efforts to change and utilize the landfill by quickly reclaiming it and turning it into a park. This project was promoted as an alternative to extracting and using resources as an alternative.

However, the biggest problem with this project was that methane gas from the landfill was only a very temporary resource. The methane gas reserve will be exhausted within the next 20 years. After that, all the Nanji landfill can do is wait for the waste to completely decompose, and the site will not be available again until at least 10,000 years have elapsed.

The proposed project aims to return the regenerated land with new facilities, not after 10,000 years. In addition, construction materials made by recycling waste landfill resources are distributed through the Han River and spread throughout the country through the Gyeongin Ara Waterway, and the focus is also on recycling resources. As a result, it is of great significance that a city is formed again within the land that has been emptied after using up all of the reclamation resources, and that it is transformed into a living land that people can directly utilize. In addition, the megastructure of the recycling center becomes a part of the city, and after partial demolition, it is transformed into a space such as an exercise center that can be used by residents. space will be established.

On the other hand, the most notable part of the project was the construction of the system. I think the biggest goal of this project was to think about how it can be built and used in reality, rather than just imagining it, and also focused on creating an integrated recycling facility that can actually be solved through a single building. put As a result, as a result, this building was applied not only to the Nanjido landfill but also to landfills across the nation, such as the 1st and 2nd landfills in the metropolitan area located in Incheon. Hope it works as a prototype and precedent.
